The Reason Why Pacquiao Chose Mosley Is Floyd Mayweather

Pound for pound king Manny has decided to fight Shane Mosley this May 7, 2011 at MGM Grand Las Vegas and his decision has created a talk over the world not just by boxing fans but of everybody. This also happens during the Clottey and Margarito fight where in the fans had a boycott.

Mosley-Pacquiao Fight really a mismatch? A lot of criticisms is common, like Mosley is too old to fight Paquiao. Mosley's past couple fights is one of the reason why others don’t like him to fight Pacquiao and some just doesn't like the idea of them in the ring. A lot of fans had said that they would go for to watch a fight of young unbeaten boxers to fight "The Pacman" like Berto or Marquez.

Of all, why Shane Mosley? When is the Mayweather-Pacquiao Fight?

Either Andre or Juan Manuel Marquez had been chosen because obviously Pacquiao has already a big edge. Going back with Berto or Juan Manuel Marquez, both has still a lot to prove compared with Pacman. If ever Marquez is chosen, he is too small and he would have to go up two divisions from his natural weight. Andre Berto has no enough track record to fight Pacquiao.

Top Rank and Bob Arum had chosen Mosley because of financial sense, critics said. Pay per views would be a sold-out if Mosley fights Manny. But in terms of pay per view Pacquiao doesn’t need a really big name opponent just to sell it. The Clottey fight would prove that Pacquiao is also a pay per view king.

The explanation above may sound lame but, quiet true. The main reason why Mosley is chosen over other boxers is because he's linked with the only rightful challenger pound for pound stake Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather has remained the pound for pound best fighter in the world for others even he had been resting for some time already. There are various list of the best Top Rank boxer with only two names as number one, either Pacquiao or Mayweather.

If Paqcuiao will impressively beat Mosley as many expects that he will than Floyd Mayweather did, let’s say he will knock him out then he will be acclaimed as the number one pound for pound fighter in the world. After then, we could anticipate a Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight. The only way Mayweather could regain the title is to fight Manny or the easiest way as they say is to successively fight all recent former opponents of the Filipino fighter.

Mosley's tempting offer to Pacquiao

Mosley said,"In may case, that's a lot of weight to lose. I previously fought at 154. Coming to 147 can be task. Then coming down even further, that is a real task. Even one pound for me make a big difference. To make things fair, we'll meet halfway."

Sugar Shane is the reigning WBA (World Boxing Association) 147-lb champion, said he is willing to comply to a catchweight of 144 lbs, admitting the fact that Manny Pacquiao is not a natural welterweight and appears to be more comfortable at 140 pounds. He also The Ring that his natural weight currently is 160 pounds.

His last fight versus Mexican Antonio Margarito earned him his reigning title of WBA welterweight belt with a win via a brutal knockout.
WBA World Welterweight Champion Sugar Shane Mosley is willing to fight Pacquiao at ligther weights even at 140.

"Getting down to as light as 143 to 144 pounds will be a monumental task, though the price of it is more than of a sacrifice."

Sugar Shane Mosley is giving Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao a very tempting offer, to fight him this October. Telling The Ring Magazine that sliding down of 147 pound would need a lot of work.

Mosley has been speaking to the media this past few days, rubbing the boxing world's appetite for a Pacquiao-Mosley fight.

Pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao has expressed his willingness to fight the veteran welterweight champion as long as both parties agree in the negotiating table such as the purse split and weight class.

Mosley then said he will not let the issue of revenue split and weight to stand in the way such a dream match.

Quoting Mosley,"I think we can make it eay. Everyone does the money thing; they want this, they want that. It's like they try to prevent it from happening. I definitely want to do this. It would be historical, a fight I think boxing needs."

Meanwhile Pacquiao was keeping his options open and was even at the ringside at Madison Square Garden when Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto meets Joshoua Clottey of Ghana.

It was just days after that fight that Pacquiao decide to settle for a WBO Welterweight Cotto bout. There was probably something in the Cotto-Clottey showdown that catches Pacquiao's attention. As for now, Sugar Shane shoud keep his head down for a Pacquiao-Mosley fight.
